Divinity’s story opens when the two main characters land on a beach in Cyseal with the aim of solving what appears to be a straight forward murder. Damn.ĭivinity feeds right into the traditional high fantasy storytelling mould as it starts out with a seemingly simple plot that evolves into the fate of the entire world depending solely on you – or at least your two characters. I guess I’m going to have to do my job then and put some words on this page that describe the game in question. However, apparently you’re here to learn a little bit about the game before you do and want to be told why it’s good instead of just accepting it. Ideally you’d blindly accept my word and drop your hard earned cash down on a copy of Divinity: Original Sin – Enhanced Edition right now. I'd give it an honest shot of immersing yourself in those smaller stories, talking to everyone, and continuing to explore-you'd be surprised how an encounter like that crocodile fight can become easier after spending time in other areas.Brilliant. Also, uncouple your party before the fight and position them properly so they don't all get caught on fire by those AoE attacks. Physical and magic armor is very important. Further, you could try and steal some equipment (but don't get caught). All of those quests will give your party experience to level up. There's a dude trapped in a cage that you can set free (or not). There's a secret tunnel somewhere along the paths in the starter area that leads to another fight with some turtles. There's a card game on the scaffolding by the front gate that will turn into a brawl that can help level you. It isn't, and as you start to learn more skills and level up your party, you'll find the combat to be way more entertaining I think.Īssuming you've recruited a fully party, I suggest exploring your way around Fort Joy and completing all the smaller quests you can. Yeah, I remember being a little concerned by that fight, thinking the whole game would be like that. No shame in lowering the difficulty if you're finding it too frustrating, but I do recommend keeping on with Classic as much as possible as the combat is a big part of what makes this game(and the first one) so damn good. It's one of the more rewarding RPG's in that respect. This isn't your average RPG - every battle is meant to be a tense encounter where you'll have to use your head to come out victorious. Lots of quests around to earn XP.īut yea, the combat is meant to be challenging. If they are, you need to do something else until you're on their level. This is all difficult early on with lack of money, but it forces you to realize how tactical the combat is instead of just thinking you can brute force battles.Įnemies also should pretty much never be above your own level. Exploring and completing side quests and hitting up vendors for good equipment can easily be the difference between winning and losing battles. Make sure you're investing in skill books for the right characters and learning how to use them.Īlso, having good gear makes a big difference. Your 'skills' loadout is super important.
